Wishlist: Sweater Weather

It's officially chilly here in Winnipeg. We have only had a few light dustings of snow this month - none of which stayed, but we all know winter is looming.
In anticipation of snow I've turned my eye to warm sweaters on Etsy.

I'm loving these ones right now:

Wishlist: Retro Enamel Brooch

I have a thing for brooches. Any kind is good, but recently I've developed a tiny obsession with enamel flower brooches.

I found this repro on Etsy last week at AliciasOddities and considering my blog name I'm pretty sure I need to buy myself one of these:

Isn't it cute?!

Wishlist: Seamed Stockings

I've been coveting seamed stockings as of late. Fall is right around the corner and I'm already thinking of ways to wear fur and keep my legs warm in skirts.

What Katie Did stockings are the right price. I really like the nude stockings with contrast seam.

And I know they're not very authentic, but I'm liking the idea of the contrast seamed tights too. No garter belt to deal with.

And for a bit more money there's Dita's line with Secrets in Lace.

Wishlist: Leopard Print Dress

Like any good vintage/rockabilly girl I love leopard print. I have several leopard print shoes and live in my leopard print scarf in the winter.

Until very recently I considered this bold print to be for accessories (and possibly a cardigan) only until I bought myself a pair of leopard print skinny jeans! I have since reconsidered this opinion and have been lusting over leopard print dresses in chic lady-like cuts. I want my leopard to be classy!

This Christian Dior dress from 2008 is obviously a fantasy, but look how gorgeous it is!!

Christian Dior at Couture Fall 2008 Runway

These two 60's dresses found on Etsy are much, much easier on the wallet!

Wishlist: Vintage Umbrella

It's raining cats and dogs in Winnipeg today...in fact, it was yesterday too...and Tuesday for that matter...we're a little water-logged here.

I'm not one to be wandering around in the rain without an umbrella - gotta keep my hair dry or it gets out of control!! The umbrella I own is cute enough: modern, collapsable with a small black and white houndstooth print on it. Works just fine.

Since we've been struck with a deluge this week, however, I've turned my sights on prettier, vintage umbrellas on Etsy. Most of these parasols and umbrellas are probably better used to shade from the sun, but isn't it a romantic idea to use a vintage umbrella in the rain? I think so.

Wishlist: Leopard Print Skinny Jeans

I never in my life thought I'd say this, but I am dying for a pair of leopard print skinny jeans. How Rockabilly cool are these things?
I would look badass in these.

The pair I want are at Le Chateau right now, but I can't seem to find an image large enough to post on here. They're similar to this pair:

source (sorry - no longer available!)

Might as well get myself a pair of these now and wear the heck out of them before I'm 40 and too old to do it right?!

Wishlist: Vintage Polka Dot Coat

The weather has gotten quite crisp here in the 'Peg and I am looking for ways to warm up.

I found and fell head over heels for this coat on Etsy last week:

buy it for me here!

Isn't is amazing?! If you can't tell from the photo, I'd just like to point out that those polka dots are blue.
*Sigh*

The problem? It's $895 USD. Now if I only had $1000 laying around I would be calling this beauty mine...

*Sigh*
I'd look so cute in this coat...

Wishlist: Vintage Hawaiian Dress

I'm am dying to go to Hawaii. The Boy's family has a time-share just blocks from the Waikiki Beach. He has been three times. Me: none. *sigh*

We talk frequently about going, but it's just not in the budget right now. So I keep dreaming and looking forward to the day when we do finally get there.

And of course, I'll need some appropriate attire. A vintage Hawaiian print dress fits the bill.

I'm lusting after these beauties on Etsy right now:

Not surprising that most of my favourites are blue right?! That and they are all classic 50's silhouettes.

Wishlist, the Birthday Edition: Lisa's 30th Birthday Week Celebration Extravaganza

Here's what's on my Fantasy Birthday Wishlist this year:

I'm really loving bakelite these days (like everyone else!), but as usual, I have champagne taste on a beer budget. I like the intricately carved bangles. I'm drooling over these ones on Etsy right now:

While we're shopping on Etsy, how about this adorable sailor dress?

Or maybe something a little fancier

And you've got to have a purse to go with your new dress and bangle. I like this vintage ostrich purse, also on Etsy. Wouldn't the pop of turquoise be awesome with the poppy dress? I think so.

I've also been in need of a black wicker purse. My summer wardrobe is lacking one. This one is cute.

On a totally different note, I'm dying for a pair of Tara Starlet Sailor Shorts. I'd love Navy or Black.

And what list would be complete without some shoes? I'm also dying for both of these styles from Remix Vintage Shoes:

The Babydoll Pump (I'd like Black please)

And the Rita. (Is it too much to want a pair in pink and cream? It's my wishlist...)

That's probably lots for now!  ;)   I could, of course, go on! lol! I don't have every closet in my house filled for nothing!

Remember This One? If Only...

Hey! Remember this Wishlist Post of yore?

Well I am still looking for the perfect vintage kimono dressing gown.

I found a beautiful one over at Dear Golden's Etsy shop. I literally gasped when I saw it.

Here she is in all her loveliness:

Are you a high roller? Buy it here.

But a little out of my price range at $240.

If only...

Wishlist: Trashy Diva Doll Dress

I don't often fall in love with repro dresses. With the wide selection of actual vintage in my size, both online and in store I rarely feel the need to supplement my wardrobe with reproductions.

But this one is different. I'm not sure if it's the blush pink, the sweet pattern or the cute style. Maybe the combination of the three, but I am smitten.
Please be mine!

(My birthday is coming up! If someone wanted to get this for me I'm a size 8! lol!)

Wishlist: Anne Marie of Paris Champagne Bucket Purse

While surfing the blogosphere I randomly discovered a photo of this purse and had to know more.

And I want one. So quirky and cute!

It is a rare evening bag by the label Anne Marie of Paris who had a shop in the Meurice Hotel. Reportedly the bags where given to patrons of the hotel for New Years Eve some time in the 40's.

Isn't it so adorable? All of the Anne Marie of Paris bags that I can find online are just as cute and quirky.

This one is for sale here for those of us feeling like high-rollers for the sum of $969 (I'm assuming US dollars).

Well, let's just say I won't be buying this one...maybe next time! ;)

Wishlist: Vintage Alligator Pumps

Today is my day off from the show. I've spent the morning nursing a cold (I'm so stuffed up right now, it's not even funny...) and trolling through Etsy. Not necessarily for anything in particular, just all of the beautiful things that I love in general.

As I was sifting through the shoes I noticed how I was attracted I was to the 40's and 50's alligator pumps and peep-toes. Which made me remember a stunning pair of 40's peep toes and matching handbag that was brought in by a woman to Ragpickers while I worked there. The woman's father had shot the alligator overseas, had it shipped to Montreal where they lived to have it made into custom shoes and bag for his dear wife.
Naturally, the gorgeous shoes in question where too small for me, but I was obsessed with them. They were obviously one of the woman's prize possessions, because they were in pristine condition.

What I'm trying to say is that looking at all of the beautiful alligator shoes on Etsy reminded me how much I wanted a pair for myself. Now if only I could find a pair in a size 8 1/2 and not a size 6...

If size were no issue, owning one of these pairs would suit me just fine (all from Etsy):

These are quite perfect.

Wishlist: Structured White Blouse

Recently I took a quick inventory of my closet to see what is missing.

As I peered into my closet I found numerous short sleeve printed blouses. How have I gone this long without a classic Structured White Blouse?

I think I may have had a great blouse that I bought at The Gap many moons ago, but I seem to remember spilling something on it and not being able to get rid of the stain. Then somehow not replacing said perfectly fitting blouse (probably because I couldn't find anything that was as good as my perfect now stained one). Then gave up trying. And now I have a gaping hole in my wardrobe.

And instead of showing you some blouses I would like to buy, I'm posting some great photos of Marilyn Monroe wearing white blouses, because I think she always looks like the epitome of casual chic in a white blouse.

I would really love to find something second hand. White is nearly impossible to find in good condition second hand though. I will probably have to resort to buying new. I'm hoping to buy something with a flattering nipped in waistline as all of the vintage blouses I've found have been too boxy for my taste.

Wishlist: High Waisted Jeans

I would really appreciate some input on this one ladies. I have wanted a pair of high waisted jeans for a long while and am too afraid to commit to something.

I would like a pair of repros. I know there are a lot out there, but I have smaller waist (28") and a much bigger booty (39"). To top that off I am high waisted (most high waisted pants hit me about an inch or two below my bellybutton) and I'm on the shorter side (I'm 5'3") with an inseam of about 30".

There is no place in Winnipeg (that I know of. if there is do tell!) that sells high waisted, vintage style jeans (and I'm talking 40's/50's style, not 70's).

So I keep thinking my only hope is the internet. Here is where my fear comes in. I'm afraid to buy a pair of jeans online, only to have them show up and not fit, then go through the hassle of trying to return something through the mail.

This is where I direly need your input readers. If you have bought a pair of high waisted jeans online and had success please share your experience with me! Or alternately, if you've had a bad experience I'd like to hear that too.
And if you live in Winnipeg and know of some fabulous place that I am not aware of, speak out!

Just to give you all an idea of what I like, here are a few I've had my eye on:

I really like these Pedal Pushers from Freddies of Pinewood.

Selvedge Jeans, also from Freddies of Pinewood.

Found these ones the other day over at Daddy O's:

Love these 50's Style Skinny High Waisted Jeans from Bernie Dexter (and they come in black!):

Please, please help me. I'm too afraid to help myself. Jeans are so particular aren't they?
