Costume Parade

My favourite part of Halloween is dressing up.

Just for fun I thought I would share some costumes from various events I've worn in the past. Enjoy!

This was Halloween 2007. (Oh ya! Check it out! I'm actually a natural blonde!)

Do You Know the Way to Grandmother's House?

The Boy and I love dressing up for Halloween.

This year we're Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf!

This is our friends new puppy Hope. She's a Husky, Akita cross and she LOVED the Wolf costume! She cuddled in and fell asleep in seconds! Cute!

Last night we went to a friends house for a low key party and tonight we're going out again (this one promises to be a bit rowdier! Fun!).

What are you dressing up as for Halloween this year? I'd love to see photos! Send me a link!

My New Bike!

I'm so excited to finally show you my new bike! I gave you a sneak peek while it was under construction a few weeks ago here.

Without further adieu: my new baby! My 1970 Schwinn Hollywood.

We bought my bike on eBay. It came from Winona, Minnesota, USA. We decided to keep the original license sticker. It's reflective!

Just for fun: the original ad for my bike in the 1970 Schwinn catalogue!

What can I say? I just love, love, love my new bike! I couldn't be happier! My only regret is that soon it will be snowing and I'll have to wait until next year to ride it.

Long Days

As of yesterday, we are officially in the theatre. The show opens in less than a week!

These last few days are long days. We call them "10 out of 12's" because we are scheduled for 12 hours, but work 10 (meaning we have 2 one hour long breaks: lunch and dinner).

This is a really exciting time! We finally get to see the set and start to incorporate all of the technical elements of the production. Due to the hours tempers can flair and it can sometimes be stressful, but when opening night comes all of the blood, sweat and tears it worth it!

I tried to post this last night, but the WiFi at the theatre I'm working at blocks Facebook, YouTube and as I discovered all blogs. :(

I snapped this photo of myself in the Green Room on my dinner break.

Hmm...I look a little tired don't I? Yup! Long days indeed. And I've got another one today.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll do my best to pop in on my day off!

Outfits: Opposites Attract

I had rehearsal today (yes, we work on Sundays. It's a 6 day work week while I'm on contract). We're in the final countdown until the move to the theatre on Thursday. And then I start working 12 hour days for a little while. Best not to think about it until then! :)

I really wanted to wear a dress today, but the wind is gusting to 70 kilometres an hour, so I figured pants were a safer bet (ah, life on the prairies!).

I've never worn this outfit before and it may become a work standby! I really love the mix of jeans and boots with the tweed blazer, blouse and vintage hat. It's like the mullet of outfits: Business on top, Party on the bottom ...that may be the stupidest thing I've ever written on this blog! lol!!

Anyway...before I type anything else stupid, here's my new favourite outfit:

Apologies for the weird lighting in the first few photos...the sun is starting to set here around 7:30, so around 5-5:30 I've got direct sunlight into my living room and I had to use the flash to compensate. More to learn about my camera I suppose...

40's Grey Felt Hat w/Feather Pom: Ruby Slipper
Faux Fur Scarf: Ricki's
Tweed Blazer: Laura
Print Blouse w/Bow: Laura
50's Sweater Pin: Vintage Glory
Grey Denim: Ricki's
Black Leather Boots: Thrifted, Value Village

Have a great week!

Selling a Little Vintage

Hello friends!

Work has been super busy (hence the lack of posts this week). Thanks for bearing with me!

I have also been busy photographing some of my vast collection for sale on Kijiji (like Craigslist) locally this week. If you live in the Winnipeg area check out my stuff here.

Here's a smattering of what I've got for sale:

Sweater is ON HOLD!

If you don't live in Winnipeg and are interested in something you can contact me by email (butterflies.daisys.vintage@gmail.com) and we can maybe work something out!

Have a great weekend!

Wishlist: Riding Boots

Fall is here today (we've had summer-like weather all week) and I am lost in thoughts of fall/winter footwear.

Specifically riding boots. I don't currently own a pair. I'm uber picky and haven't found the right pair at the right price in the last few years. I wish I had thought to save some money over the summer (when all I could think about was open toed shoes and wedge sandals...) so I could buy a pair now. But alas, the funds are low...

These 2 pairs from Brown's are really doing it for me right now....Sigh...

This pair would be my first choice. I love the mottled leather. You could wear them with black or brown. And I love the option of pulling them up over your knee for added warmth and cover in the winter. Can't you imagine these with thick tights and a cute flowy feminine dress?

available to purchase here.

As you can see, my second choice is similar, but different. Solid black, with a buckle. This pair is more expensive as well and available in more colours.

want this pair? buy them here

So anyone reading this who would like to buy me an extra special Christmas gift knows what to get me...size 8 1/2 please.

Anything for fall you're dying to own, but just can't put into the budget right now?

Work in Progress...

I've wanted a vintage bike for years. Two years ago The Boy and I found the perfect bike on eBay: a green 1970 Schwinn Hollywood. By some miracle of God we won it! Cost and shipping put the bike total at around $150 CAD. Not too shabby.

We received the bike in two boxes, in pieces. The Boy has been slowly taking everything apart and restoring it for the last two years. I have been patiently and eagerly awaiting the day that I get to ride my new old bike.

And that day is coming very, very soon. Tonight I got to see my bike put together and I got to sit on it for the first time since we bought it!!! It was so exciting! The Boy still has some minor tweeks to make before I take her for the first ride, but we suspect the maiden voyage will be in the next day or two!!!! I can't contain myself! I'm so excited I could cry!

My beautiful bike is more wonderful than anything I could have ever imaged owning. I am so grateful that I have such an amazing boyfriend who is not only able, but willing to restore this bike for me. It makes it even more special.

Here are a few sneek peeks of my girl while she sits on the work stand:

I love the rust and patina. She's getting a mechanical overhaul mostly, the nicks and dings will stay.

Here's The Boy working hard in our "bike shop" in the basement

Promise I will share all the details when I take her for the first spin!
